Took the 9.5 an hour ago and felt nothing doing it. Not hope, not dread. I have been drained of the ability to have a pregame emotion and I would like it back
u/Bugsy_Malone_JrHaslam has always been the problem.2 points21h
First season I did not want to start. Ill still watch every snap of it
u/Corned_Beef_Sandwich1 point21h
101 degrees at kickoff. Iheanachor went to Arizona State so hes fine. Brailsford came out of Alabama and is going to be a puddle by the third quarter
u/Dactylion🐀rally-opossum1 point21h
Iheanachor. Two h's and it is not Ihenacho
u/Tranmere_Til_I_Die🌊lake-erie-bros1 point21h
Up at six in Birkenhead for this one. My wife has asked me to defend the decision and my defence is that I cannot
u/kbrick2🧝brownie-elf1 point21h
Things I am watching today and none of them are the ball. 60 on every third and medium. 74 when they slant. And whether Savage can play outside for four quarters in that heat

And there it is. Hang around, give it back, they go up ten in the third, I do the dishes with the game on behind me. I have seen this exact afternoon since Reagan
u/Vunderkinder2 points20h
Hunter got Savage stacked at the top of that route and just took the ball off him. Sixty six yards. Thats going to happen three or four more times and I hope everybody has made their peace with it now
u/kbrick2🧝brownie-elf1 point20h
Savage has been a safety his entire life and they asked him in August to play boundary corner in Florida. I am not going to be angry at him about it today
u/SnowEmergencyBan🏟dawgpound152 points20h

21-7 at half. I have looked at the score bug four times because I keep assuming I have it backwards

Do not do this. It is 21-7 at half in September in Jacksonville. We have been up at half before

KC CONCEPCION. FIFTY FIVE YARDS. ON THIRD AND ONE

Jacksonville have quit. That is what you are watching. I have sat on the other end of this in September about nine times and it looks exactly like this

They have quit because we made them quit, which is a thing that has never once happened to us in that order

Ok Im going to be the guy. I had a perfect day. Got up at nine, made eggs, watched my football team score five touchdowns in Florida, and at no point did I check whether I was allowed to enjoy it. Im forty three and I have not had a Sunday like that since my twenties, and that one was a loss. Thats the post. Im not putting a but on the end of it

Watched this in a bar in Lakewood with about thirty people in it and when it went 28-7 the room went quiet instead of loud. Not cheering. Quiet. The bartender turned the sound up like the television was going to explain it. Then a guy at the end said WHAT ARE WE DOING out loud to the ceiling and the place laughed for a minute and a half

Harold Fannin Jr scored three touchdowns and handed the ball to the official every time and jogged off. Two catches and a one yard run and not one celebration all afternoon. He is twenty two and he acts like a man returning a library book
u/GutterBallGus🟫Phil Dawson Flag #1 Fan76 points20h
On the third one the CBS guy just said again, and then nobody said anything, and it was the funniest thing on that broadcast
u/TheRealDonVito319 points20h
8 for 11 on third down. On the road. In September. EIGHT FOR ELEVEN
u/kbrick2🧝brownie-elf21 points20h
Two of those were one guy beating one guy in space which you cannot draw up, but six of them were the actual call working, and thats the number I would take home from today
u/Torpedo_Vegas🛍Baghead261 points20h
20 of 24. Twenty. Of twenty four
u/SaltyTapWater112 points19h
He leads the league in completion percentage and in passer rating and I am aware that everyone who played today leads something and I am going to say it every day anyway
u/Dactylion🐀rally-opossum73 points19h
Nine quarterbacks lead the league in something today. One of them was 20 of 24
u/Bibliomancer_14 points19h
Twelve months ago he threw ten picks in seven starts and posted an 18.9 QBR, fifth worst out of six hundred and ninety six qualifying seasons. I have had that memorised since December and I would like to hand it back now
u/kbrick2🧝brownie-elf231 points20h
Four sacks. We win by 28 and still give up four sacks and two of them are the left guard being walked backwards into his own quarterback. Putting it here so that in six weeks nobody can say we did not see it in week one
Edit: two of the four are the quarterback holding it, yes. I am talking about the two that are not.
u/HotDogWaterEnjoyer94 points20h
it is four hours after a 28 point road win. let me have the four hours
u/kbrick2🧝brownie-elf7 points19h
Take the four hours. The guard will still be there at seven
u/Vunderkinder2 points19h
Im charting it tonight. It is worse than it looked and the scoreboard is covering it
u/just_here_for_the_fries205 points20h
I cried in the third quarter. Not at anything in particular. Fannin scored the second one, I was standing in my kitchen with a plate in my hand and it came out of me sideways. Im thirty four and I do not know what that was
u/NightShiftNurse21645 points19h
You are fine. I had to leave the room after the Concepcion catch and I told my husband I was getting a drink and I did not get a drink
u/marge_incharge_🐕dawg175 points20h
Jared Verse had three tackles for loss and no sacks and spent the whole fourth quarter having a conversation with a bench that would not talk back. I have never enjoyed watching a defensive lineman more
u/LawnDartsChampion💪myles31 points20h
We got him for Myles Garrett. He is going to have to do that about ninety more times before I look straight at it, and today he can have the afternoon

Nine tackles and a forced fumble and a breakup and one stop behind the line, in the first game of Delpits life at big slot. He has been here through four coaching staffs and is the last one left from any of them

u/crankshaft_pete18 points19h
Iheanachor. Sorry. He spent four hours on Josh Hines-Allen
u/Bibliomancer_2 points19h
Every public board in the country had him in the forties and he just erased one of the best paid pass rushers in football in his first professional game. One game. I am aware. I am typing it anyway
u/Torpedo_Vegas🛍Baghead1 point18h
Hines-Allen also had two of the flattest quarters I have ever seen him play
u/Two_Dollar_Bill_🟠browns67 points19h
434 yards. 8.3 a play. 22 first downs. Zero turnovers. Two penalties. One punt. I have read that back three times and each time it looks more like something somebody typed into a spreadsheet wrong
u/Sensitive_Turnip_3155 points19h
Why did we go for it on fourth down twice when we were up three scores, that is a real question and I am not being sarcastic
u/Vunderkinder27 points19h
First one was in the second quarter at 14-7, so that is normal. The second was up 28 with the clock running and was probably about giving the line a rep. They didnt get either
u/Sensitive_Turnip_312 points19h
That makes sense, thank you. I couldnt tell if it was arrogance or a plan

A hundred and seventeen point six million dollars of dead money sat on this cap while that happened and it is still there tomorrow. I am not raising it to be a drag. It is the condition of the team
u/MoundsvilleMary🟫brown-jersey17 points19h
And we would have kept him if he had thrown for four thousand yards, and every person in this thread knows it about themselves. Thats the whole reason January landed the way it did

Yes. I have never once pretended otherwise

Honest question and I know how it will go down. Would any of you rather have a real head coach with this exact roster. I think we won today in spite of the arrangement and I do not think that holds up for seventeen weeks.
u/Bruce_Almighty_Ohio👖orange_pants12 points18h
This is a fair thing to think and a strange day to post it
u/Bugsy_Malone_JrHaslam has always been the problem.2 points18h
I hold most of what you just wrote and even I think you should have waited until Tuesday
u/PhilNoAnchovies-11 points19h
Jacksonville quit in the second quarter and this thread is a preseason reaction with a real scoreboard attached. 20 of 24 against a defence that stopped tackling is not information about a quarterback. In four weeks half of you will pretend you were measured about it.
u/unsalted_butter77🟠browns53 points19h
We were nine and a half point dogs at 1pm. You are allowed to hold the sample size and still say the words good win
u/PhilNoAnchovies-19 points19h
I said good win in the game thread. What I am objecting to is a hundred people typing the phrase best offence in the AFC North four hours after a September game in an empty stadium.
u/Zamboni_Tycoon🦇chubbatman6 points19h
Nobody has typed that. You have invented a guy to be angry at and he is not in the thread

They have Denzel Ward. We have both of their first round picks. They lost at home by twenty seven to Atlanta and we won on the road by twenty eight. I am going to bring this up at every funeral I attend for the rest of my life

I had the Atlanta game on the second screen and every time they showed 21 standing on that sideline I felt bad for him. He did not do anything to us. He asked to go somewhere he could win, they sent him there, and he is 0-1 and got beaten by twenty seven at home in front of people who will not be kind about it. I hope he is alright

Called my dad at halftime and he picked up on the first ringFandom

He is 74. He has had seats since the old stadium and he gave them up in 2022 and did not tell me why until this February.

I called him at halftime because it was 21-7 and I did not know what else to do with myself. He picked up on the first ring, which he does not do. He lets it go, and then rings back in an hour when it suits him.

He did not say hello. He said "the tight end." That was the opening.

We talked for eleven minutes about Harold Fannin Jr and he called him 88 the whole time. 88 this, 88 that, keep him inside the ten. Then he said the third quarter was starting and hung up on me.

He rang back at 4:40. Did not say hello then either. He said "thirty five to seven," and then neither of us said anything for a while, and then he asked what time I was up next Sunday.

u/NightShiftNurse21670 points18h
Mine calls Fannin the Bowling Green kid, which is worse, because he will not learn the name until January
u/ThirdShiftHank278 points18h
People are asking about the 2022 thing so Ill answer it once. It was the Watson trade. He would not say the word. He said he could not do it, and then he asked me about my car, and I let him change the subject and we never went back to it. He bought them again in February and he did not tell me that either, my mother did

Charted every third and fourth down. The inside of the offensive line is still the problem and 35-7 is hiding itDiscussion

Went through the eleven third downs and both fourth downs twice. Two of the eight we converted were one man beating one man in space, which is not something you can call.

1. Zion Johnson. He gets walked into his own quarterback on the sack in the second and that is the rep everybody saw. The two I would point at are the second and six on the second drive and the third and three in the third, where he loses the same way both times. Hands late, feet stop, somebody has to come help.
2. Brailsford. Better than a rookie centre has any right to be in that heat, and Jacksonville only made him anchor four or five times all afternoon. Somebody will put a real nose over him in October.
3. Four sacks. Two of them are the quarterback holding it. One is Johnson. One is a stunt that nobody passed off and I still cannot tell you whose it was.
4. Both fourth downs. The Monsour calls were fine and both got blown up at the point of attack. The spot is going to eat the whole week and the spot is not the reason we did not get it.
5. Iheanachor spent four hours on Josh Hines-Allen and I cannot find the rep where he loses. That is the ninth pick and it also happened today.

Last thing. Mansor took both fourth downs onto himself afterwards and never mentioned the spot, and I thought that was right even though I did not like the second call.

None of this changes the score. We won by 28, we ran it at 6.2 a carry and I enjoyed all of it. The interior is a real problem and the only reason it is not the story tonight is that we scored on the drives where it did not cost us.

This is the post I have been waiting for since about four o'clock and I resent every word of it
u/Vunderkinder8 points13h
I resented writing it. I had a beer in my hand at 4:15 and then I opened the tab
u/HotDogWaterEnjoyer33 points13h
Two of those four sacks are the quarterback holding it and one of those was him trying to make a play on second and twelve while we were up 21. I would rather have a guard problem than a quarterback who throws it at the numbers on every third down
u/Vunderkinder11 points13h
Agreed on the second and twelve one and I said so in the post. The one I care about is the third and three, because the guard loses that rep the same way he lost one in the first quarter and nobody helped him either time
u/Two_Dollar_Bill_🟠browns2 points13h
We are not going to be able to pay for a guard and a swing tackle in the same March and you already know which one wins that argument
u/Practical_Feature_2325 points13h
Nobody on that offensive line came off the field. Not once. Not on the last drive up 28 with a clock running. That tells you exactly what this staff thinks about what is behind them
u/Bibliomancer_19 points13h
Where I disagree slightly. Brailsford got asked to anchor maybe five times all day because Jacksonville were in so much light front stuff by the second half. You cannot conclude much from five reps and you cannot feel good about them either. Leave it open until Tampa
u/oldmanyellsatcloud6 points13h
OP how long did this take you
u/Vunderkinder29 points13h
Four hours. My wife went to bed and said the thing she says
u/GutterBallGus🟫Phil Dawson Flag #1 Fan9 points12h
what does she say
u/Vunderkinder42 points12h
She says have fun
u/Torpedo_Vegas🛍Baghead2 points13h
The spot on the second one was wrong and every person in that booth said so on air twice
u/Vunderkinder14 points13h
It was wrong. We also did not get the yard on the first one, and we did not get it on the wrong-spot one either, so I do not think the spot stopped us
u/Bruce_Almighty_Ohio👖orange_pants2 points13h
The 8.3 a play is doing a lot of work and it is almost entirely two plays. Take out the 55 and the 30 and it is a normal good afternoon. I am not knocking it, explosive offences look like that on a stat sheet
u/Alderaan_Placekicker2 points13h
Serious question because I do not watch line play well. When you say he cannot anchor, what am I looking for on the replay
u/Vunderkinder16 points13h
Watch his back foot when a big nose gets into his chest. If he is getting driven and his feet are moving backwards in little steps, that is losing the anchor. It is less about strength than about whether his hips can stop
u/Alderaan_Placekicker2 points12h
Thank you, I am going to go and look at it now
u/Bugsy_Malone_JrHaslam has always been the problem.2 points12h
This post is worth more than the rest of the front page put together and it will finish the night at two hundred while a picture of a scoreboard does eighteen hundred
u/Sputnik_Sweetheart_1 point12h
Small thing. You have written Mansor twice and Monsour once in the same post and I could not get past it
u/Vunderkinder1 point12h
Fixed, thank you. I have been spelling it wrong since January and not one person has said anything
u/Torpedo_Vegas🛍Baghead1 point12h
Fix the guard
u/Rusty_Shackleford77😎joe-cool1 point12h
Have any of you considered that they might just fix it. He signed Elgton Jenkins and traded for Tytus Howard in March specifically because he thought this was the problem, and the two rookies inside are what is left over
u/marge_incharge_🐕dawg1 point10h
Bookmarked. Thank you for doing the work none of us do

Honestly posts like this are why nobody in here is capable of having one clean Sunday. We won by twenty eight points. Put the laptop down and go outside for one evening in your life.
u/Vunderkinder2 points12h
I did go outside. I came back in
u/NightShiftNurse2162 points12h
He is not making you read it and there are four other threads on the front page about how great today was
u/Tarragon_Tuesday🤪crazy-joe-14 points11h
There are four threads about today and this one is at the top of my feed, which is the problem I am describing.

I am still not on board with him and I would like to put down why once, without it turning into a fightDiscussion

I am not going to pretend yesterday did not happen. I watched every snap of it and I was happy at the end like the rest of you. I still do not want this man running the Cleveland Browns. Putting it down once so I can stop typing it into other people's threads.

1. My uncle coached high school football in this state for thirty one years and retired as a JV coordinator. He is not owed an NFL job and that is not the argument. The argument is that there is a line four thousand deep of people who have done that work, and the family handed the chair to a man with a channel. The sport is worse for it whether we win twelve games or four.

2. January. I am not defending what that man did and I never have, not in here and not anywhere. I did not need my football team's head coach holding a press conference about his own moral character on day two and I am allowed to have found it distasteful. Half of you found it moving. I watched a different video than you did.

3. Yesterday was fun, and it was Jacksonville in September and they quit in the second quarter. I would like somebody to tell me in six weeks that I was wrong. I do not think anybody will be able to.

Downvote it, that is fine. I have had this flair since 2019 and I have been wrong before.

I disagree with almost all of this and I am glad it is here. This sub was going to be unreadable today and now at least it is an argument
u/notatowel420🧝brownie-elf49 points5h
That is roughly what I was hoping for. I am not trying to take the day off anybody
u/Two_Dollar_Bill_🟠browns245 points5h
Point one survives the season either way. The next family that buys a team is going to look at this and think it is repeatable, and it will get repeated by people who are not him
u/NightShiftNurse216185 points5h
Point two is where you lose me and I want to say why without shouting at you. My sister works somewhere that took more than a thousand donations in the twenty four hours after that trade in 2022. You watched a man be self important on a podium. She watched something else happen in her building. Same press conference
u/notatowel420🧝brownie-elf90 points5h
That is fair. I have read it three times and I am not going to argue with your sister
u/MoundsvilleMary🟫brown-jersey137 points5h
The word for what he did in January is grandstanding and the word for what the four regimes before him did is a lot worse than grandstanding, so I have made my peace with the trade
u/Hupp_Ohio🟫Fuck Watson11 points5h
We also cheered the trade in 2022. Nine hundred people in this subreddit made a joke about a bargain that week. I have gone back and read my own comment and it is still up
u/chairsitterGPODAWUND118 points5h
I stopped telling people at work who our head coach is. Not because we lose. Because I have to explain the YouTube thing every single time and I am tired of watching the face they make while I do it
u/WendysFrostyEnjoyer🟠Dare to be Stupid & Orange Pants Save Lives41 points5h
You are going to have to explain it about eleven more times this season and one or two of those are going to be extremely enjoyable
u/oldmanyellsatcloud79 points5h
This team is my uncles boat. Every four or five years he gets it running and takes it out on the lake and it is the best day of the summer, and then it sits on a trailer in his side yard under a blue tarp with a raccoon in it until roughly 2031. Yesterday was the boat running. I love the boat
u/pickle_juice_pete18 points5h
The raccoon is what makes this
u/Vunderkinder62 points5h
One hundred and seventeen point six million dollars in dead money is still on this cap this morning. It was there Saturday and it will be there in December. Yesterday did not move a dollar of it and it is why the interior of that line looks the way it does
u/kbrick2🧝brownie-elf6 points4h
The football consequence of January is one position group and you can see it on tape. Say that out loud in here and half the room thinks you are relitigating a moral question. It is a cap sheet
u/Torpedo_Vegas🛍Baghead40 points5h
Cabots Monday column reads like a woman who was on board in March. She spent the spring filing three pieces a week about how the room felt about him and today it is the plan
u/Sputnik_Sweetheart_28 points5h
She wrote the piece in July about the interior line that half of you are quoting today and not one person credited her for it
u/broiler_pan2 points5h
Both her Monday pieces are behind the paywall and I am not paying money to be irritated
u/Torpedo_Vegas🛍Baghead1 point4h
Fair
u/Rusty_Shackleford77😎joe-cool1 point4h
From Daryl Ruiter on X this morning: nobody in that building said one word about being underdogs and I asked four of them. That is the only line I have read all day that told me something
u/bonelesswings_32 points5h
Tampa on Sunday. Bowles calls his own defence, they went 8-9, Mayfield is in a contract year and did not get his extension. I would like everybody to have their expectations back in the drawer by Wednesday please
u/RyeBreadForever24 points5h
First Monday in nineteen years at this job where I wanted to be at work
u/notatowel420🧝brownie-elf2 points5h
Good. Honestly. I am not the fun police, I am one guy with a flair from 2019
u/Blastoise_Enthusiast🛡Anyone Else13 points5h
I want to push on point three a bit. You say you would like to be told you were wrong in six weeks and that you do not think you will be. What would it take. Not to convert you, I am asking what the actual test is
u/notatowel420🧝brownie-elf16 points5h
Beating a team that is trying. Tampa are trying. If we go down there and hold up in the trenches against Vea and win a normal one, I will say so in this subreddit under this username
u/Blastoise_Enthusiast🛡Anyone Else5 points4h
That is a real answer and I respect it

Three years of my life went on arguing with strangers about whether a sex pest could throw a slant. I would like to spend this one arguing about a left guard, and I do not care how shallow that is
u/marge_incharge_🐕dawg5 points5h
I do not agree with you and I am not going to try and talk you out of it. I lost most of my thirties to arguing with strangers in this subreddit about head coaches. Have your Monday
u/Corned_Beef_Sandwich4 points5h
the sport is worse for it whether we win twelve games or fourThis is the only line in the post I would fight about. The sport being worse and my team being better are not connected to each other and you have welded them together
u/notatowel420🧝brownie-elf2 points5h
They are connected for me because I am also a person who likes football and not only a person who likes the Browns. You are allowed to be only the second one
u/Bugsy_Malone_JrHaslam has always been the problem.2 points5h
Thirteen years I have had a flair about an owner who does not own this team any more, and I woke up this morning and had nobody at all to be angry at, and it turns out that is worse
u/Grandma_Betty_195415 points5h
You will find somebody. Give it until Halloween
u/Half_Assed_OptimistChubb Chubb Nick2 points4h
What I would like to know is what the plan is at left guard in March (there is no plan, there is a hundred and seventeen million dollars)
u/Sensitive_Turnip_311 point4h
Where does everybody stand on the fourth downs, I have not seen anyone in here angry about them and normally that is a two day argument
u/Practical_Feature_231 point4h
He took both of them onto himself at the podium and did not mention the spot once, and that took the fight out of it before anybody could start
u/Tranmere_Til_I_Die🌊lake-erie-bros1 point4h
