Fifty-one minutes in a converted meeting room at Raymond James, sixty-eight questions, and the one everybody flew down for arrives nineteen in — that men who spent thirty years earning a job like his are saying publicly that this is an insult to all of them. He does not defend himself. He does not mention his record. He names four people in his own building who did it the long way and are better at this than he is, tells a story about Dom Capers and a pressure from 1994 that ends with about nine thousand people watching him explain a name he made up, and gets a laugh he did not go looking for.
